The UAE, home of thousands of expats and one of the world’s most famous touristic destination with its world-class shopping, dining and entertainment attractions, beautiful beaches, mysterious deserts and culturally-rich heritage sites, UAE offers something for everyone.

Although it’s a Gulf State, the procedures for pets coming from Bahrain to the UAE are the same as any other country that is not in this state. Luckily, Bahrain is a category 2 country that is considered rabies free and pets traveling to the UAE do not need rabies blood test RNATT, however, there are a set of documents, treatments and vaccinations to be administered and endorsed within a strict time frame.

Consult your pet relocation specialist for further details and arrangements.

MICROCHIP

The UAE accepts microchip that must be read by an Avid 9 and Avid 10 or other ISO standard 11784 or ISO standard 11785 compatible readers and has to be verified or implanted before any pre-export vaccinations are administered

All vaccines should be valid at the time of import and given not less than 15 days before export date

If your dog is expected to go to boarding kennels in the UAE after arrival, we highly recommend the Bordetella (also known as “kennel cough” vaccine) to be administered as most kennels in the UAE request this vaccine to be administered prior to arrival

ADDITIONAL DETAILS & AIRPORT OF DESTINATION

In order to issue import permit, we need the below

  • Copy of the Pet Owner’s Passport
  • Signed Customs Clearance Form (your Specialist will provide this)
  • Tentative or permanent address in the UAE

Pets going to the UAE, we recommend sending to DXB international airport.

Clearance in DXB is online and documents can be entered in advance, we do not recommend the port of entry to be other than DXB as clearance can take up to 7 hours and most of the times no vet is available which can delay clearance even longer.

Upon arrival, our pet travel agent will receive your pet and start the customs clearance process that can take anything between 2-3 hours after aircraft landing followed by final vet inspection and release certificate.

Once clearance and release is done, our UAE Pet Taxi partners will deliver to you residence, hotel, or boarding kennels.
